The next Pioneers Alliance meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 10 at Carey City Hall from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Kendra Womak and Alan Sands will be speaking. Kendra oversees the Conservation Partnerships and Candidate Conservation programs for the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Boise. She will speak about the recent decision by the Fish and Wildlife Service regarding the listing of sage grouse under the Endangered Species Act. She will also explain the process and benefits for landowners to enter into a candidate conservation agreements to protect sage grouse. Alan is a Conservation Ecologist with both the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and The Nature Conservancy, and will speak about the biology of sage grouse and the factors surrounding the recent listing decision by the Fish and Wildlife Service. The Pioneers Alliance is a cooperative effort by ranchers, local residents, conservationists and public lands managers to conserve and enhance the natural and cultural values of the Pioneer Mountains and Craters of the Moon landscape of south-central Idaho.
